Residential Services
“A house is made of bricks and beams. A home is made of hopes and dreams.” - Author Unknown
ICSS provides a variety of residential homes that offers supports for people based on their individual needs. ICSS works with the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services, and Developmental Services Ontario for subsidized residential services.
24 Hour Supports
Each home provides up to 24 hours of support for people residing in a group living setting. The support provided is person-centered and designed to meet each person’s goals, wishes, needs, and dreams.
The focus of the residential supports ICSS provides extends far beyond ensuring that a person’s basic needs are met. We offer a safe, supportive, and inclusive home that promotes personal decision making, meaningful community involvement and assist people to develop and maintain independence and make connections in their everyday lives.
Intensive Residential Supports
Individualized specialized support for adults with developmental disabilities who are experiencing significant behaviours that challenge or other complex concerns. Specially trained staff work with the person supported, other clinical supports and family to provide a secure and supportive living environment.
Supported Independent Living
Supported Independent Living is designed to offer varying amounts of support to people where they live. Support is also offered while they are in their family home and in the process of moving to their own home.
The frequency and type of support varies with each person and is based on the expressed needs of that person. Support could include money handling, budgeting, menu planning, assistance with preparation of meals, shopping, landlord and tenant negotiations, home maintenance, assistance with appointments, social and leisure opportunities, personal hygiene, and accessing other community resources to enhance their quality of life. Training and skill development are the focus to increase and maintain a person’s independence.
